Amazing!!! I have been wanting to try my hand at making mooncakes for months - if not years - now. After watching many videos online and browsing dozens of recipes, I finally decided to purchase these mooncake molds. I thought it would be easier to just pop them out of these spring-loaded molds than trying to bang the traditional wooden mold on the edge of the counter. Besides, I loved the variety of different sizes, shapes and designs - square, round, big, small, with 12 plates in all. I was not disappointed when the molds arrived! They were securely wrapped in heavy plastic and bubble wrap inside the larger box, and each set was enclosed in its own individual plastic bag so there was no confusion. They are made of heavy-duty plastic with quality metal spring construction. I cannot believe the high level of quality for such an affordable price! They were very easy to use - just pop in your desired plate, twist, and you are good to go! Cleaning up is just as easy and painless. I could not wait to try making snowskin mooncakes (a mochi-like outer covering that you don't have to cook) with lotus-seed filling which I purchased ready-made in Chinatown. I tried to make my own filling but that was a disaster. If you do try to to be creative just be sure the filling, on its own, is firm enough to hold its shape or it won't work. It is very important to weigh out both the skin and the filling so that each mooncake comes out exactly the same size and proportions. Although most recipes recommended 70% filling and 30% skin, I found that a 50/50 ratio worked for me. The large mold is marked as 100 grams, so I weighed out 50 grams of filling and 50 grams of skin. However, it's impossible to figure out exactly how much the ingredients weigh in order to exactly fill the volume of the mold. No problem! Just press the finished and floured ball of filling covered with skin into the mold so that the bottom is even and the designs on the side are filled. The mold does not have to be filled up to the top (or bottom). Lightly press down onto a clean surface, then lift the mold and gently press out the finished mooncake. LIKE MAGIC, your boring ball of foodstuff has been transformed into a gorgeous and highly impressive work of culinary art! You will not fail to impress. I am so glad that I went ahead and purchased these fun molds and I can think of a million other creative things I could do with them.

3.0 out of 5 stars One mold doesn’t fit
Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2022
The mooncake molds were pretty easy to use, but one of mine came with a little plastic nub still attached to the side (as if it were detached from another plastic piece). This made it really difficult to get into the press and just as hard to push the cake out delicately. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this defect until after the return period expired.

There were no instructions and the product came in a nondescript box. Its intuitive enough to figure out without instructions, but would still have been nice to have for someone who has never used a cookie press before. This product is definitely not packaged for gifting, but it generally works as intended.

5.0 out of 5 stars My mom was so impressed!
Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2023
I live in an area where there are no Asian markets. I can’t get all the yummy pre made savory or sweet dishes. I wanted to try my hand at moon cakes. I love that these molds come in different sizes and you can switch the design plates. They are really easy to use. I didn’t have any problem getting the cakes to pop out. My mother gave two thumbs up and said the molds make the cakes look very professional! Great value and quality.
